Tuesday Tip of the Day: Makeup Brushes

Want to extend the shelf life of your makeup brushes up to twenty years?

You should clean your makeup brushes after every use with a daily cleaner for many reasons. The biggest reason is the oil, dirt and old makeup that builds up on your brushes which can contribute to breakouts and irritated skin.
Cleaning your brushes daily is great for your skin but thoroughly cleaning your brushes weekly is great for your brushes!

Mix a small amount of baby shampoo and warm water in a bowl, dipping just the bristles (try to avoid getting the furrule wet so you do not loosen the glue of your brush). After you have submerged the bristles, run brush under warm water until the water runs clear. All that’s left is laying them out to dry and voila you’re done! Good brushes are expensive, so taking fifteen minutes out of your week to have your makeup brushes last you years is totally worth it!

  3. I use Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple, and I clean mine about every other week, with the exception of my wet-liner brush, which I clean every day. But I also use clean tissue or a towel to remove as much product from the brushes as possible between cleanings.

Totally envious of your MAC collection! I have invested in 5 so far, LOVE them! *grin*
